Reading Evidence - Porridge (Term 3)


Reflection

I was able to locate specific information in the question to help me look for clues abed where I needed to search in the story.

Basic Needs For Survivel




My Refection
Walt : Identify what humans need to survive.

In room 19 we have been researching the basic needs that humans need for survival.  We used websites to find this information and then we created an imovie to explain this information to the class.
  • I was able to find the important ideas about the 5 basic needs that we need to survive.
  • I was able to write the important facts/ideas in my own words so that I could understand what I was writing.
  • I was able to research the websites that I was given to search for information that was related to survival.
    • Next time I think I will try and make sure that everyone gets a chance to share and not just the same person each time.

Art Evidence



Walt : design a variety of patterns to create a piece of zentangle art.

Success Criteria
  • We were able to divide our background art into sections and design a variety of patterns within each section.
  • We were able to choose an analogous colour scheme and add it to the zentangle patterns and continue the pattern with each analogous colour.
  • We were able to continue each section with a new analogous colour scheme.
  • We were able to make sure our animals did not overlap with the background




Next time I will make sure that I keep the patterns on the background the same and I will choose my colours carefully so that they will contrast.

The Whale Rider Compare and contrast



Walt : actively seek to extend my knowledge of new vocabulary and words that mean the same.


I was able to stop when I came across a word I didn’t understand and I looked for the meaning of the word in the dictionary on the computer.
Next time I will try and use some of the new vocabulary that I have learnt in my reading.

Math Evidence



Walt : find fractions of sets by using multiplication and division eg. ⅓ of 21 is 7

Success Criteria
  • I was able to use my knowledge of division facts to help me solve fractions of sets.
  • I understood that I needed to divide the amount in the set by the denominator eg. 21 divided by 7 is 3.
I understood that I needed to find out what the fraction of a set was for a unit fractions was before I could find out what the fraction of a set when the numerator was more than 1.

Question:
John Cena owns 25 Xbox One games. He shares them with his two friends. He take 1/5 of them, Papa takes 2/5 of the 25 Xbox One games. What fraction does June get? How many do they get each?

Autumn Personifacation Poem



My Reflection

Walt : edit and revise my writing for clarity and impact in response to feedback and self-reviewing and assessing.


I was able to re-craft my autumn poem because I changed that mean the same to more interesting words like burrow, Splash.
Next time I need to re-read my writing often so that I don’t miss out words and so that my sentences make sense.

Basic Facts


October Reflection
I was disappointed because I did not beat my high, score so I will have to keep practicing so I can beat my highest score which is 85.




August Reflection
I am happy that I got 85 in my basic facts it is my highest yet hopefully I can go for a 100 next.



July Reflection
I was finished my goal of 8x but now I need to work on my 9s and 7x time tables and division.

April Reflection

I was good at my 0 times but I still have to work one my 9,8 and 7 division and times tables.

March Reflection
I was extremely excited with my result. Multiplication and division slowed me down. 9, 8, 7 and 0 times
tables all slowed me down.


May Reflection
I am proud that I got a higher score but the 9 times tables.

Term 1 Reading Evidence - Friends


Reflection

We have been reading the story “Friends” by Joy Cowley.    Writing questions and asking questions are important because they help me understand what I am reading better.  


I have learnt there are 4 different sorts of questions and they are right there, thing and search, on my own and author and me.


I was able to write questions because I used who, what, when to start my questions.


Next time I will use some interesting words in my questions, add more detail and add question marks.

Maths Evidence

Maths Reflection
In maths I have been learning to improve my knowledge and understanding of numbers.
I was able to Round Decimals by watching the video and now I don’t need to watch it again because  I have memorised it.  I learnt that you round up if it’s five or more and round down if it's four or less.
Next time I  am going  to try harder to identify numbers 1/10, 1/100, 1/1000 before and after because I am not good at it.

Room 6 Buddies

Room 6 is our buddy class for 2016.  Every week we have been meeting our buddies and have shared stories with them, had a shared lunch under the tree and we found out some secret information about them and designed some bookmarks to give them.

I really enjoy visiting my buddy because he is fun to read to and he listens to what I say. Sometimes he helps me read the page. My buddy is helpful, caring and he likes to read a book to me.

Writing Reflection


I have written a Kennings Poem about me so that other people in the class got to know more information about me.  In our poem we brainstormed different ideas about ourselves.

I was able to brainstorm different ideas about myself and include them in my poem.


Next time I am going to try use lots of quirky words to make my writing more personalized.
